Summer is just about here. This year we are not taking a vacation, per se, but instead our friends, the Godseys, are coming here for 10 days or so. Many times we go to them, in South Carolina, but this year it is their turn to travel. Planning for their visit, plus the rest of the summer weeks when all the kids will be home all day–sometimes with Daddy, sometimes not–got me researching activities around the DFW area. There are a few winners:
Kidsbowlfree — Many bowling alleys around the country are offering this deal. Any child gets 2 free games per weekday for free. Must rent shoes (or buy your own if you plan to go often). Parents can buy an all-summer pass for $25 to join their kids. The Strikz facility in Frisco offers this deal, so we signed up and are looking forward to beating our Wii Bowling scores at a real bowling alley!
First Tee of Dallas–Nate loves to golf. My friend Erin told me about a national program that has a chapter in the Dallas area where kids take golf lessons in six-week sessions, learning golf skills and social etiquette at the same time. It is VERY affordable, so we are trying it out to see how serious Nate is about golf.
Sports camps–my big boys each get one week through our church’s sports ministry. Nate is taking golf (surprise), Jack will take soccer.
Both boys will also participate in an art class taught by Brenna Stull (author, speaker, artist!) late in the summer.
Maggie and Gabe will tag along on these outings. But their time is coming 🙂
