Many of you will remember the news story from last May in which the youngest daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman, Maria Sue, was accidentaly killed on their family driveway. The Christian recording star and his family recently opened up about their grieving process, and the role that their faith plays in that, to ABC News reporter Robin Roberts. The feature, which included the entire family, was shown on Good Morning America this morning.
You can read the interview here. You can also see clips of the interview, some of which were cut from the GMA version, on Steven’s site.
Stay tuned for People Magazine’s August 13th issue, which will also have a feature on the Chapman family. And tomorrow night, August 7th, you can see them all on Larry King Live (I think he’s on CNN).
Why the flurry of publicity? Well, Steven has recently resumed touring for his newest album, coming back into public life as it were. Naturally his fans are concerned and curious about how the family is doing. These opportunities with national media will spread their message of grieving with hope to millions of people who don’t often hear the gospel, who might wonder how in the world they could cope with a tragedy like Maria’s death. Who knows how God might be honored through these interviews?
1 Thess. 4:13-14 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve been so heavy hearted for this family and I’ve been praying for them as I’m sure you have.
May you have a blessed day!
All for Jesus,
Julie
